The medieval flavors of Umbria Region


DAY 1 – ROME – ASSISI – PERUGIA (d/o)

Pick up at your hotel in Rome around 9am.

Departure by car to Perugia. On the way stop in Assisi and visit with guide, this small town with the basilica di San Francesco, composed by two churches laid one upon the other, both containing frescos from Cimabue and Giotto. Visit also Piazza del Comune, Santa Chiara and admire the medieval buildings. Continue to Perugia. Dinner with drinks included and overnight.

DAY 2 – PERUGIA HDT – GUBBIO – PERUGIA (B)

Breakfast, meet your guide at the hotel around 9.30am and start the visit on foot of perugia historical center where one of the most magnificent public buildings of the medieval period is.

In the afternoon excursion to gubbio to visit on your own this small town with encircling ramparts, buildings of warm yellow stone and distinctive towers and palaces. The town is also famous for the wolf which ravaged the country at a time that st. Francis lived in Gubbio.

Back to the hotel for overnight.

DAY 3 – PERUGIA – TORGIANO – DERUTA – PERUGIA (B)

Breakfast, departure at 10am to torgiano, famous small town for productions of wine and oil. Stop at a local cellar for wine/oil tasting.

Proceed to Deruta, famous for its ceramics, time at leisure to wander on your own and do some shopping.

Back to the hotel and overnight.

DAY 4 – PERUGIA – CASTIGLIONE DEL LAGO – ROME

Breakfast, departure at 10 am to Castiglione del Lago on the Trasimeno lake. It was originally one of the 4 islands on the lake , time at leisure to admire the magnificent landscape and the Rocca del Leone. Continue to Rome and transfer to your hotel.
